Oreste's message on Sunday 30th December 2012 is available for download.
God will accomplish His eternal purposes through time. So where will God’s purposes all end up? And if they are eternal what happens to time as we know it? What is the future of time?

Fullness Of Time

Oreste's message on Sunday 23rd December 2012 is available for download.

God brings about key events in time to fulfill His eternal purposes. In this message Oreste looks at the sovereign God-event known as Christmas where in the fullness of time Jesus was born into our world as a baby. Jesus came for a purpose and we celebrate the reality of what He accomplished and is accomplishing even now as a result of His first coming through a miraculous birth as Lord and Saviour.

Foolishness WIth Time

Oreste's message on Sunday 16th December 2012 is available for download.

As disciples of Jesus we are to be prepared and ready for the return of the Lord. Time is a precious resource we have been given to get ready for the day of Christ's appearing.  In this message you will be encouraged to use your time wisely as lessons are learnt from the book of Ecclesiastes and the manner in which Jesus taught us to pray. With God's word in head, heart and hand we can avoid the failure that comes from being foolish with our time.

Keeping Your First Love

Val Ciacia's message on Sunday 25th November 2012 is available for download.

In our commitment to serving and pleasing the Lord we can lose our spark and passion in life. Val explores this reality which besets all of us at times. Through the challenge of repentance that Jesus presented to the Ephesian Church in Revelation about them having lost their first love, Val provides biblical wisdom on how to keep the spark and passion for Jesus alive.

3 Constant Qualities For All Christians

Oreste's message on Sunday 11th November 2012 is available for download.

The faithful follower of Jesus wants to know what God's will for them is. As His followers we each have a responsibility to find out what God's expectations of us are.  There is however a common expectation or will that God has for all His people. They are reflected in 3 constant qualities that all Christians are to possess. You might be surprised to see how simple they are but in reality how inactive or ineffective we can be in their practice and presence in our lives.

Holiness

Heaven

Oreste's message on Sunday 7th October 2012 is available for download. The corresponding slide is also available.

Can we know what heaven is like or isn't like? Does the Bible give us clear, concrete realities about what eternity in heaven might look like? Be prepared to have your popular, media reinforced misconceptions blown to pieces. Whatever you think heaven might be like be sure to test it against the truth of God's word. Even where you have faithfully sought to do this one thing is for sure! Whatever you imagine heaven to be like, it will not be exactly like that. Why? Simply because it will be even better.

The Jesus Review and You (Pt 3)

Oreste's message on Sunday 30th September 2012 is available for download. The corresponding slide is also available.

This is the final message of a three part series that delves into Revelation chapters 2-3 where Jesus is reviewing the seven churches of Asia Minor. The areas of repentance that Jesus identifies in these churches have direct application for us today as Christians. The call to repentance that Jesus issued long ago to these churches is also a call for us to not forsake our first love and faithfulness to our Lord. Where we wander away from spiritual faithfulness to God, other things will enter our lives and becomes idols we need to repent of. Listen in and resolve to be obedient to the call of Jesus in our lives - let's forsake the idols in our lives and embrace the Master wholeheartedly in anticipation of His return to planet earth.

The Jesus Review and You (Pt 2)

Oreste's message on Sunday 23rd September 2012 is available for download. The corresponding slide is also available.

This is the second message of a three part series that delves into Revelation chapters 2-3 where Jesus is reviewing the seven churches of Asia Minor. The areas of repentance that Jesus is calling these churches to are explored. The forsaking of our first love for the Lord marks the decline and decay of a disciple's spiritual faithfulness towards God. It is the "thin edge of the wedge".

The Claims People Make

Rob Brown's message on Sunday 9th September 2012 is available for download.

Rob looks at the claims that have been made by different kinds of people and how the reality ends up failing to match the bold claims that were originally made. The test of time causes evidence to emerge that allows the rest of us to plainly see many trails of false claims. Rob applies the same test of time to the claims Jesus made about himself in the Bible to reveal a refreshing, compelling and evidence based reality about who Jesus is - the way, the truth and the life. Be challenged and comforted as you listen.

The Jesus Review and You (Pt 1)

Oreste's message on Sunday 2nd September 2012 is available for download. The corresponding slide is also available.

This is the first message of a three part series that delves into Revelation chapters 2-3 where Jesus is reviewing the seven churches of Asia Minor. Jesus provides commendation and correction to these churches and puts out the call for repentance in particular areas in anticipation of the day He will judge His people for their deeds of faith at His second coming. The Jesus review has implications for you and I and gives us a much needed opportunity to listen to Jesus' feedback so we can "pull our socks up" as preparation for the final review when we meet our Lord face to face.

The World or Jesus?

Sarah de Haan's message on Sunday 19th August 2012 is available for download.

In this message, whoever you are and wherever you stand in relation to God, Sarah challenges you to sincerely consider the eternal choice before you to turn to God and fully embrace Him. Why? Because Father God turned His back on Jesus so He wouldn't have to turn His back on you. That choice has eternal consequences that are meant to find expression and fulfilment in the here and now of life. The choice rests on what or who you allow to shape your soul. So what or who will it be for you - the world or Jesus?

I Am So Listen Carefully

Oreste's message on Sunday 12th August 2012 is available for download.

Jesus asked His disciples a question: "Who do you say I am?" In this message we are challenged to consider our personal response to this question and to identify the true source of our response. A revelation from God about who Jesus is changes everything about our attitude to Him and all that Jesus has to say to us.  God the Father declared that Jesus is His Son whom He chose and that we are to listen to Him. Such listening demands our obedience to the way of Jesus as we follow Him as faithful disciples. There is a commitment and cost to following Jesus but the journey brings forth the greatest possible joy and fulfilment that not only changes the disciple but transforms the world into the fullest expression of God's kingdom on earth.

Forgiveness Open; Love Flows

Oreste's message on Sunday 5th August 2012 is available for download.

Oreste looks at the story in the book of Luke where a sinful woman pours perfume on the feet of Jesus while He is dining at the home of a Pharisee.  Jesus, knowing that Simon the Pharisee is disgusted by what this woman did and aware of the woman's love for God , goes on to teach about forgiveness and love.  When forgiveness is open then love flows freely and lavishly.

Disappointment, Doubts & Dodgy Discernment Part 2

Oreste's message on Sunday 29th July 2012 is available for download.

Oreste concludes with Part 2 of this message where the issue of being offended by Jesus is uncovered as it relates to John's time of doubt in prison. Application to our lives is made where disappointment, doubt and dodgy discernment can be seen to flow from offence with Jesus.  Left unresolved our times of doubt can turn into hardness of heart. But where we confront our doubts and bring them humbly to the Lord they can be an opportunity for a greater and more robust faith.

Disappointment, Doubts & Dodgy Discernment Part 1

Oreste's message on Sunday 22nd July 2012 is available for download.

Oreste resumes the Meet the Master series from the book of Luke and looks at the doubts that faced John the Baptist who was now in prison.  John who had been successful in serving God is now unsure if Jesus is the one and yet he so confidently declared him to be the "Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world."  What John experienced in prison and his circumstances is something we may all face as followers of Jesus at some time or another. We have our disappointments and our doubts which in turn impair our ability to rightly discern the work of God.  But there is something more fundamental to our times of doubt that may well surprise even the most faithful of followers. That is, that the manner of Jesus in outworking the purposes of Father God in the world, may be offensive to our expectations and preferences. Let's not stumble, take offense and fall away on account of Jesus but embrace and serve him who is both Saviour and Lord.

The Grace of Serving Part 2

Oreste's message on Sunday 15th July 2012 is available for download.

Oreste concludes this message as he explores capacity and gifting as the means through which we are to serve.  Serving involves doing things we are motivated to do and things we are less inclined to want to do.  The mundane and the menial tasks still need doing and Jesus' example of foot washing sends a clear message that we are all to share in doing the lowly tasks. In this way we are to be faithful stewards of the capacities God has given us. As we are faithful with the few things God gives us He will gladly entrust us with more so that we can serve Him in newer and more adventurous ways.

The Grace of Serving Part 1

Oreste's message on Sunday 1st July 2012 is available for download.

The grace of serving is released in disciples who wholeheartedly accept that Jesus is Lord of their watch (and thus their time). In this message Oreste speaks about serving as the giving of our time to serve God and others.  Jesus gave us the example of washing the feet of His disciples and commanded us to serve in the same way He had demonstrated. Such service is to be done with an attitude of humility, where we willingly lower ourselves for the glory of God and the benefit of others. God has gifted all of us with various capacities and we are to use them for the purpose of serving others so that He may be glorified. God expects His people to serve as Jesus served. This is the grace of serving.

The Grace of Giving Part 2

Oreste's message on Sunday 24th June 2012 is available for download.

The grace of giving is released in disciples who wholeheartedly accept that Jesus is Lord of their wallet. In this message Oreste continues to speak about giving and looks at the qualities of the heart that are formed in the disciple who gives generously out of God's grace. The actions of giving and generosity speak volumes about the state of our heart and reflect what we value and who we serve. Our attitude to money and what we do with it provides a true assessment of where our treasure truly lies. Be encouraged and challenged to be a generous person because the Lord loves a cheerful giver.

God's Promises - Empowerment for the Impossible

Sash Stanceski's message on Sunday 17th June 2012 is available for download.

How you see yourself will influence your ability to enter into the promises of God. In this message Sash will unpack this truth through the story of the twelve spies whom Moses sent to check out the promised land.  Why is it ten of them saw themselves as small and insignificant "grasshoppers" in the sight of the Canaanites that dwelt in the land God had promised the people of Israel? Today we can also fall short of entering into the things God has promised us in the new covenant in Jesus Christ. This message will inspire and challenge you to action that flows from a radical confidence in a God who will do everything He promises to do - empowerment for the impossible!

The Grace of Giving Part 1

Oreste's message on Sunday 10th June 2012 is available for download.

Transformation of the faithful disciple of Jesus into His likeness will inevitably lead to that person becoming increasingly generous with their money and time. Inspired by a God-given vision of the Kingdom of God, generosity is expressed as the investment of our whole self and resources into the fulfillment of this vision for our lives and our community through the local church we are committed to. This first message looks at the grace of giving as the faithful expression of a person that has "seen" by faith and acknowledged the generosity of God in their lives. This reality is achieved by God's grace in our lives and enables us to be generous in our giving.  The grace of giving is released in disciples who wholeheartedly accept that Jesus is Lord of their wallet. Be challenged and inspired as you hear God's word in this important area of Christian growth.

The Grace of Vision

Oreste's message on Sunday 3rd June 2012 is available for download.

Proverbs tells us that without a vision the people perish. Jesus Christ must be at the heart of all vision for those who claim to follow Him. When we lose sight of Christ centred vision through discouragement, disappointment, distractions and despair we easily lose motivation and don't experience the reality of eternal life in the here and now. In this message you will be encouraged to pursue afresh your God-given dreams as you live according to God's kingdom vision of transformation. Oreste also shares some key aspects of what this kingdom vision can begin to look like for LWCC in its local community. At the heart it is all about transformation. God's kingdom vision can only be truly seen by His grace. It is a gift from God and something we take hold off through faith. It is the grace of vision. Be sure to receive it and pursue it. Without it you will perish and with it you will prosper.

Go To The Other Side

Irene Shand-Len's message on Sunday 20th May 2012 is available for download.

Irene looks at the story where Jesus says to His disciples to cross the lake to go to the other side. On the other side they meet up with a socially unacceptable demon possessed man from the Gerasenes. In this encounter with Jesus, the demon possessed man's life is transformed. In this message we are challenged to go to the other side of the places we move about in by crossing boundaries and reaching out to others in obedience, friendship, love and with the life giving good news of Jesus Christ. Jesus desires us to go to the other side and reach out to others with His purpose, power and plan.

Expectations in Evangelism

Oreste's message on Sunday 13th May 2012 is available for download.

Having a practical working basis for sowing and reaping in the Kingdom harvest, it is important to ensure we have biblical expectations on the work Jesus has called us and commanded us to do.  Understanding these expectations in evangelism enables us to recognise what productivity in our mission really means.  Without balanced expectations we can too easily become discouraged and overwhelmed by the task. This is something Jesus never intended His followers to experience. His desire is that we should be stimulated, fulfilled and sustained by the work of sowing and reaping in the harvest. This was the experience of Jesus as He shared the good news and as His followers it is able to be and meant to be ours. Listen in and find out how it can be so.

Ways to Help Sow & Reap Part 2

Oreste's message on Sunday 6th May 2012 is available for download.

After looking at the things you need to know as you are out in the field helping in the harvest, this message focuses on the things you can do to help sow and reap.  There are a number of practical ways to help get the good news message out both as an individual and as part of the local church in the community. The practice of productively sharing your faith will depend on your priority and preparation. When these things are in place sowing and reaping will more naturally become the core work you bring into everything you put your hand to.

Ways to Help Sow & Reap Part 1

Oreste's message on Sunday 29th April 2012 is available for download.

Oreste continues to speak about the harvest field of those who have yet to enter the Kingdom of God. Having challenged disciples to engage in helping sow and reap in this harvest field, practical ways to help out are shared.  This message focuses on the things you need to know as you are out in the field helping in the harvest.

Huge Harvest But Hardly Any Helpers

Oreste's message on Sunday 22nd April 2012 is available for download.

Oreste picks up on the theme of Jesus sending out His disciples to proclaim the good news. Jesus came to seek and save the lost. Salvation is rescue from an existence of being lost to a life of purpose, direction and eternal fulfilment. The directions to be given to a person who is lost that they may be found, is the good news that Jesus came and died for our sins and was raised back to life. Jesus said that the number of lost people waiting to be given these life saving directions is huge. He said the harvest is great but the number of willing workers or disciples who would give the directions were few. The harvest is huge but there are hardly any helpers. Be challenged and respond obediently to the Lord of the harvest, that you might be recognised by Him as one who is helping in His harvest field of lost souls.

Ways We Are To Wait

Jasmine Crennan's message on Sunday 15th April 2012 is available for download.

In this thought provoking and challenging message, Jasmine points out the manner in which disciples are to wait in readiness for the return of Jesus. We are to be watchful as we wait and yet carry on with our lives faithfully before our Lord. The biblical truths presented are those Jesus spoke of in the book of Matthew where He tells a number of parables. The message closes with the parable of the Sheep and the Goats where we are shown how closely Jesus identifies with His brothers and sisters in His body the Church. We are left with a strong challenge to demonstrate our love with action towards our brothers and sisters.

Jesus is Alive - Just Like He Told Us

Oreste's message on Sunday 8th April 2012 is available for download.

Jesus told His disciples that He must suffer, be killed and be raised back to life on more than one occasion.  He was preparing them for the pinnacle of His mission that would see Him complete the work of opening up the way for people to escape death and hell and enter into eternal life in God's kingdom.  Each Easter we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ and rejoice that He is alive. However for the disciple of Jesus this celebration is not limited to one day in the year. It is a continual celebration of our freedom, rescue and salvation that has come through the death and suffering of our Saviour on the cross. That Saviour is Jesus and the guarantee of the truth of all He achieved for us is proven through the fact that He was raised back to life from the grave. Jesus is alive - just like He told us.

We Are Sent to Sow the Gospel

Oreste's message on Sunday 1st April 2012 is available for download.

In the book of Luke Jesus speaks to His disciples about the parable of the sower. In this parable Jesus reveals the nature of the truth of the good news and how people respond to what they hear. As disciples this parable is an encouragement for us to be diligent and generous in sowing the seeds of the gospel message. We are not responsible for how people listen to what they have heard but we are responsible for seeing that people are hearing the good news. How else can they repent and believe unless we spread this message to them. The gospel is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes. Let's get out there and sow the gospel that people may hear, believe and be saved. This is the mission Jesus was sent on and He has passed that mission onto us by sending us to sow the gospel.

God's Kingdom: Blessed & Greater

Oreste's message on Sunday 25th March 2012 is available for download.

Jesus speaks to His disciples about the nature of the Kingdom of God. He describes how the subjects of this Kingdom (His disciples) think, choose, act and experience life in a radically different way to the subjects of the Kingdom of this world. Jesus gives insights and revelation that differentiate God's Kingdom as blessed and greater. It is a Kingdom that will never end; where there is no death, misery or distress but life forevermore for those who accept the invitation to enter it by repentance and faith in Jesus.

Followers, Forgiveness & Pharisees

Oreste's message on Sunday 18th March 2012 is available for download.

The message in Luke is one of the nearness of the Kingdom of God where Jesus is calling anyone and everyone to enter into it by repentance and faith. As Jesus continues His miracle filled good news mission on earth to bring sinners back to relationship with God, three key things emerge; people are coming out of the crowd to follow Jesus, people's sins are being forgiven by Jesus, and the self righteous ones (Pharisees) are opposing Jesus. Be encouraged, comforted and challenged as you listen to this message and understand the nature and heart of Father God as seen through the life and mission of Jesus.

Jesus:Tempted, Rejected, Celebrated

Oreste's message on Sunday 11th March 2012 is available for download.

Oreste continues the Meet the Master series that looks at the life and mission of Jesus as recorded in the book of Luke. In this message we see how Jesus handles situations we all experience in life - they are temptation, rejection and popularity (or celebration). Jesus' response that comes out of faithfulness and obedience to Father God gives us an unshakeable example to follow as we walk in the steps of our Lord and Saviour.

Corinthian Chaos

Oreste's message on Sunday 26th February 2012 is available for download.

Oreste begins a series that looks at the Corinthian Christians. Attention is given to the substance of their lives compared to what the Apostle Paul expected of new creation inwardly transformed persons in Christ. Paul's letters to the Corinthians reveals the chaos in this church and in the lives of a number of Christians. Only as the weapon of the word of God is used to demolish thoughts, attitudes and intents of the heart that are opposed to God, can order and peace be established in the follower of Jesus. Chaos will give way to emerging Christ-likeness as we are changed from glory to glory into His image.

Holy Hunger? Eat Fast Food!

Oreste's message on Sunday 15th January 2012 is available for download.

Oreste looks at the place of the physical body in enabling spiritual transformation into Christlikeness or holiness. He shows how spiritual disciplines are the means through which the body can be trained to act consistently with our mind and spirit. Oreste focuses on the spiritual discipline of fasting as a means of satisfying our hunger to be more like Jesus. When we fast we are replacing our intake of physical food with spiritual food; as Jesus said, we do not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of God. This is the spiritual food of the fast or "fast food". So if you have a holy hunger, one thing you can do to satisfy it and be further transformed into the likeness of our Master Jesus is to eat "fast food" by practicing the spiritual discipline of fasting.

Walking in Humility

Carolyn Vincent's message on Sunday 8th January 2012 is available for download.

Carolyn looks at the place of humility in the life of a disciple and more specifically walking in humility. She looks at two contrasting examples in King Manasseh and Jesus and brings out important keys for us to take note of and apply in our lives. In Jesus we find the one we are to imitate with a servant attitude as we take up our cross and live for God.

Essentials for the Disciple of Jesus

Fruitfulness is guaranteed if we practice the essentials.
We practice what we love and value.
But do I dearly value these things? Do I love them?
  1. Word of God – do I feed on it regularly?
  2. Prayer – do I ask, seek & knock persistently?
  3. Presence of God – do I regularly enter in and experience God’s presence privately and publically?
  4. Sharing the good news of the kingdom of God – do I actively look for God opportunities to tell others about Jesus?
  5. Showing the good news through my personal example – do I look to demonstrate the good news of the kingdom through the way I live my life as others are watching?
  6. Doing acts of faith and love – do I respond to opportunities to help others just as the Good Samaritan did?
  7. Faith exercised daily – do I trust God in all things at all times?
  8. Obedience – do I actively seek to be obedient to the Lord even in the areas I find difficult?
  9. Humility – do I actively seek to consider others above myself?
  10. Walking in the Spirit – do I actively seek to ensure I am walking in harmony with the Holy Spirit and not grieving Him?
Bye for now,
Oreste

Complete Joy

Wayne Gillie's message on Sunday 1st January 2012 is available for download.

Wayne takes a look at the things Jesus spoke about in John 15 and gives us 5 keys that enable us to experience complete joy. This is not a feeling of joy that depends on our circumstances being happy and pleasant but goes much deeper than this. The joy that Jesus speaks of is eternal, solid and robust - it is complete joy.
